Former Georgian minister of state security once again foretells new revolution

Publication time: 7 July 2006, 22:21

The former head of the State security service of Georgia, currently the leader of oppositional Justice party Igor Giorgadze, who is wanted by Georgia for terrorism charges, has once again spoken about the near prospect of one more revolution in Georgia. His interview is published in the latest issue of the weekly Moscow News today. Asked who will be the next President of Georgia, he says about himself, "I will be [the President] only in the case, when such is the will of the people".

Giorgadze adds if his supporters could get the power, they would propose another approach to the settlement of the conflict with Abkhazia; he and his supporters would speak not about the territorial integrity, but about the uniting of Georgia.

According to Giorgadze, Saakashvili and his team simply want to return territory - moreover by force. Speaking on his whereabouts after he left the territory of Georgia in 1995, Giorgadze refuted information, that he was located in a dacha in the Moscow area and walked on the restaurants with the mistresses. In reality in this time I changed my location in eight countries, notes he.

Moscow News adds that their writers have met with Giorgadze "in the territory of one of the states of the former USSR". AIA wrote earlier that on May 24 Igor Giorgadze gave a press conference in Moscow explaining his political program. Online magazine Civil Georgia writes that no influential political party in Georgia is willing to cooperate with the Russian-backed Giorgadze's Justice Party.
