Erdogan: 'Israel Isolates Itself'

Publication time: 16 July 2006, 11:21

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized recent events in the Middle East saying "Israel isolates itself."

Erdogan, in his statement to journalists after the opening ceremony of 192 buildings constructed by The Turkish Housing Development Administration (TOKI), said to Israel: "We told you to stop using unbalanced power and we would find and deliver the [Israeli] corporal, but you did not listen to us."

Finding the punishment of Lebanon nonsense and inhumane, Erdogan added: "These are the events destroying the peace in the Middle East. Israel must reverse its mood as the Middle East should not turn into a bloody lake and the UN should show more fervour regarding this. We would deceive ourselves if we do not regard this as a war. It is the war itself."
