The Syrian government has warned against Zionist forces\' entry into Lebanon. Syrian Information Minister Mohsen Belal announced on July 23 that if Israeli forces enter Lebanon and move toward Beirut, Damascus would enter the conflict. He said if such a thing happens Syria will not remain quiet. He added: "our forces are on alert." Belal also blasted the US for disrupting efforts to establish a ceasefire. He said Syria only supports the Hezbollah of Lebanon spiritually.
