On Tuesday morning (July 25), an Iraqi Mujahideen vehicle bomb exploded by the US military headquarters in the middle of al-Baghdadi, Al-Anbar Province, about 225km northwest of Baghdad.
Eyewitnesses in al-Baghdadi said that an Iraqi Mijahideen fida'i fighter drove a tank truck loaded with explosives into the American headquarters, completely destroying the facility and killing or wounding more than 30 US troops who were inside at the time. More than six American military vehicles were destroyed in the huge explosion.
The US responded by launching immediate high security measures in al-Baghdadi and the surrounding area.
