Georgian police withdraw large amount of arms

Units of the Interior ministry, including special troops, have carried out an anti-criminal operation against Georgian president's former envoy in the Kodori Gorge Emzar Kvitsiani, who leads the paramilitary group Monadire [the Hunter], and who several days ago announced disobedience.

 

Reportedly, late last evening the Interior ministry's unites began checking the villages of Chkhalta, Gentsvisi, Omarishara; the representatives of the Interior ministry withdrew a large amount the Russian origin arms.

 

According to the journalist of the broadcasting company Rustavi 2, Kvitsiani and up to 60 of his guerillas are in a forestry area of the village Azhara, which is besieged by the security forces.

 

Besides this, it is reported that a group, including the five people from the de facto Abkhazian president's guards' service, led by Erik Elba are still in the Kodori gorge; yesterday they together with the Russian generals met Kvitsiani.
