Taliban on Saturday, September 2, accepted responsibility of downing an aircraft of NATO-led ISAF in Kandahar province. Spokesman of Taliban fighters, Dr. Muhammad Hanif, phoned the office of Afghan Islamic Press from and unknown location and said, "Taliban fighters shot down a NATO aircraft in Panjwai district of Kandahar today." He said the aircraft was shot down with a sophisticated anti-aircraft rocket recently obtained by Taliban fighters. The Taliban spokesman said these sophisticated weapons have also been given to fighters in southern and northern areas of Afghanistan, adding that Taliban fighters would soon launch anti-aircraft operations in the north and south regions.
