Chechen Authorities Condemns Pope's Attacks on Islam

Publication time: 18 September 2006, 18:40

The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria's State Defense Committee, Majlis-al Shura, distributed a statement on Monday, September 18, 2006 condemning recent Pope's attacks on Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessing be upon him) in the Pope's speech in Regensburg, Germany, on September 12, 2006.

"Attacks on Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessing be upon him) are a manifestation of enmity and disrespect of the Islamic World. The words of the head of the Vatican also testify that he is poorly informed in the matters of Islam and history.

We wish to remind the Pope that during the whole period of the wars in the time period of the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessing be upon him), with his participation, the total number of people who died on both sides in the battles did not exceed 1,400.

The Quranic principle teaches: "Their is no compulsion in the religion". Forced conversion to Islam contradicts Shari'a Low and is considered to be illegal.

Unlike bloody Crusades which were organized by the Roman Catholic Church and brought sufferings to many peoples, Islam was never spread by sword but by using sword it always protected justice and liberated the peoples from oppression and tyranny.

We strongly condemn such attacks and declare that under no circumstances such enmity and disrespect could be accepted and left negligent. The head of the Vatican must personally apologize for the insult and disrespect of Islamic holy things and of the Almighty God and show more prudence in his speeches in the future", the statement specifically says .
