Over Six US Occupation Forces Killed in Afghanistan

A Taliban spokesman announced the killing of 6 US occupation troops southeast of Afghanistan. Qari Mohammad Yousef in an interview with IRIB's Pashto radio said a US patrol was targeted by the Taliban Monday morning in Gilan town, Ghazni province, as a result of which 2 vehicles were destroyed and 6 US troops killed.

He added that a US base in Ilbek region, Shalikout town in Qandahar province was also attacked by 15 rockets, but there are no reports on the casualties.

The spokesman said 4 Afghan police forces were also killed by the Taliban, Sunday, in Garishak town, Helmand province, the IRIB reports.

Earlier, spokesman of Taliban fighters, Dr. Muhammad Hanif, phoned the office of Afghan Islamic Press from an undisclosed location and said Taliban blew up a vehicle of US troops with remote controlled landmine in Mardi Khail, Khost province today (Oct. 2), killing all the troops onboard.

In another incident, he said, a clash between Taliban and US troops took place in Salaro area of Saidabad, Maidan Wardak after Taliban attacked US troops last night. He added that the firefight continued for 15 minutes but details of the damage were not available.

Three Afghan soldiers were killed and four others wounded as a vehicle of Afghan National Army struck a landmine in Paktia province today (Oct. 02), a puppet "security officia"l said Monday. A vehicle of puppet solgiers hit a landmine in Gardah Serai district of Paktia province today (Oct. 02) at noon. Three puppet soldiers, traveling in the vehicle, were killed and four others wounded while the vehicle was destroyed.

Meanwhile, local Taliban accepted responsibility of blowing up army vehicle and killing three Afghan soldiers in Paktia. Gardah Serai district is a mountainous region of Paktia province situated on Khost-Gardez highway where Taliban had also conducted attacks against Afghan soldiers in the past, the AIP report.
