On Saturday afternoon, October 21, 2006, an Iraqi fida'i fighter had driven an explosives-laden truck into a US checkpoint in the al-Mal‘ab area of eastern ar-Ramadi and obliterated it completely, the Al Basrah reported.
Eyewitnesses said that the Mujahideen attacker drove a large Hino truck into the middle of the checkpoint, which was crowded with American soldiers. Witnesses said that the checkpoint was totally destroyed and all inside were killed. Several US military vehicles were also wrecked in the attack. No civilians were killed in the blast other than the fida'i car bomber.

Mujahideen followed that up by firing a rocket-propelled grenade at the minesweeper, totally destroying it.
