Iraqi Mujahideen fighters armed with bombs and pipe rockets ambushed two American vehicles opposite the ash-Shaykh Hadid area in the ath-Thamaniyah district of al-Hadithah, about 170km northwest of Baghdad, Thursday afternoon. the attackers totally destroyed the two US vehicles, killing nine US Marines. The attack took place in full view of the people of the western Iraqi city, the Al Basrah reported.
Half of the body of one of the Marines - his torso and head - had been hung on a eucalyptus tree in the middle of the city. The body was found more than 20 meters from the scene of the attack blown apart by the force of one of the rocket explosions. Local residents found the partial corpse, tied a rope under its arms and hoisted it up into the tree.
A medical professional in al-Hadithah hospital who rode with the ambulance to tend to one of the Iraqis killed in the attack confirmed that a part of one of the Marines' bodies had been hung in a tree. He said blood was dripping from it and the local children were all gathered around to celebrate the successful strike on the Americans. In retaliation, US troops killed one of the innocent Iraqi bystanders and hung his body from a lamp post in the middle of the city.
An Iraqi Muhahideen bomb went off by a US Humvee in the market near the main water pipe in 'Anah, about 300km northwest of Baghdad, on Thursday. Witnesses in the market said that the blast killed destroyed the US Humvee and killed three American troops.
Iraqi Mujahideen forces were able to seize complete control of large swathes of the city of Ba'qubah following violent battles between the Mujahideen and puppet "Rapid Deployment forces in the city, located about 65km northeast of Baghdad.
