Chechen Mujahideen engaged in a firefight in the area of the village Eshelkhatoi in the Vedeno district on Monday, October 30, 2006. A short battle left several Russians wounded and 3 others dead including a commander. 4 Mujahideen fighters were also slightly injured in the firefight, according to a report for the Kavkaz Center news agency from the Chechen Military Command.
After the firefight, Russian artillery pounded for several hours the environs of the Eshelkhatoi village and a forested area south of it.
According to a Russian news report, a clash took place in the area of the Dargo village on Tuesday, October 31, 2006, that left 2 Russians wounded. No information about possible casualties among the Mijahideen was available.
Russian war planes bombed several times the Itum Kali district on October 29, 30 and 31, according to the above-mentioned report from the Chechen Military Command. No information on possible casualties was available.
