Taliban Report Harvests of Military Operations

Two communiques issued by the Taliban, one on Monday, November 6, 2006 and the other on Tuesday, November 7, list the "harvest" of military operations executed by the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan for those two days. The combined ten attacks, which occurred in the provinces of Zabul, Paktika, Khost, Qandahar, Nangarhar, and Badghis, involved the use of remote controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs), armed confrontations and rocket launchings. Among the attacks, on Tuesday morning, the Taliban claims to have destroyed five vehicles of the American forces in Zabul, not indicating an approximate number of killed soldiers; the previous day, Taaliban report  killing eight puppet soldiers in the same province, on the expressway of Qandahar-Kabul. Also, NATO forces were attacked in two separate incidents in Qandahar, one involving a fierce battle in the district of Panjwai, and the other involving the detonation of several landmines that destroyed three of their vehicles in the district of Zhari.

The Taliban also issued their harvest of military operations in Afghanistan for Wednesday, November 8, and Thursday, November 9, 2006, separately on these two respective dates. This is yet another week in which there has been a constant stream of communications from the Taliban, which is in stark contrast to their past pattern of bi-weekly or weekly lists of attack updates. In these communiques, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan report  attacks in several provinces, including the often besieged Qandahar, Zabul, and Khost, in addition to Laghman, Ghazni, Paktika, and Logar. In one particular operation on November 9, the Mujahideen state that they executed twelve traitors among puppet soldiers in the district of Gurbuz in Khost after attacking the checkpoints they patrolled. According to the Taliban, this act to is serve as an example to others. Other operations include improvised explosive device (IED) detonations, rocket launchings, and armed confrontations targeting American, puppet, and NATO occupation troops.

In regards to claims by NATO about losses inflicted upon the Mujahideen in the province of Qandahar, the Mujahideen deny these as mere fabrications to raise the morale of their occupation soldiers and confuse global opinion about the systematic slaughter by the occupiers against Afghani citizens. The Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan  counter and report to have successfully stopped two attacks launched by NATO occupation troops in the Zhari district of Qandahar, having launched a counter-offensive with light and heavy weapons, the Washington-based SITE Institute reported.
