An Iraqi fida'i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a a US military column in the ash-Shatt area in the area of at-Tarimiyah, a northern suburb of Baghdad about 30km from the occupied Iraqi capital at 3pm local time Saturday afternoon.
The explosion destroyed a US Zeal troop transport and killed five US troops and wounded three more of them, one of those severely.
Mujahideen fired a barrage of ten 82mm mortar rounds at the US consulate in the city of al-Hillah, about 100km south of Baghdad on Friday. The US consulate provided no information on the nature or extent of casualties, if any, from the barrage.
A bomb exploded by a US patrol in the western part of Hit, 165km northwest of Baghdad on Friday evening. The bomb, which was planted by the side of the road between the al-Jabal neighborhood and the al-Jary neighborhood in the western part of the city blew up by a patrol of three Humvees. The explosion completely destroyed one of the Humvees. American troops aboard the vehicle were either killed or wounded, the Al Basrah reported.
