Deadly Chemical Weapons Leaked From Russian Plant

Deadly chemicals leaked from Russian military chemical weapons plant in the town of in Maradykovsky, 725 kilometers (450 miles) northeast of Moscow , Ms Tatyana Korolyovaya, an environmental activist in a town close to the Maradykovsky complex, told Radio Liberty on Wednesday.

 

Several aviation bomb casings had ruptured last week, and  toxic liquid had spilled onto the ground.

 

The bombs stored at Maradykovsky hold VX, soman, sarin, and a less deadly mixture of lewisite and mustard gas.

 

The Maradykovsky plant holds 6,900 tons of nerve agents stored in aerial bombs and missile warheads, more than 17 percent of Russia\'s chemical weapons stockpile, the AP reported.
