Chechen Mujahideen armed with grenade launchers, machine- , and
submachine guns ambushed and attacked a Russian military convoy on a road to
the district center of Shatoi on Sunday, December 10, 2006, according to a report from the
Chechen Military Command for the Kavkaz
Center news agency.
As the result of the firefight that lasted for approximately 30 minutes,
at least 4 Russian troops were killed and 7 others were wounded. The Russian
casualties are probably higher. A Russian armored personnel carrier was also
disabled. There were no losses among the Mujahideen. No further details on the
operation were mentioned in the report.
