Somalia: Major road on the verge of Capture

Publication time: 15 December 2006, 11:18

Islamic courts army captured the settlement of Qansaxdheere a day after they captured Ufurow with out any resistance.

Qansaxdheere is some short Distance from the major high way connecting Baidoa with Ethiopia, and if captured will have a major effect on the movements and supplies coming from ethiopian government to the puppet "government" in Baidoa virtually cutting off the supplies coming to the pro-US arm formation..

Some small skirmishes took place yesterday on the roads between Bardheere and Dinsoor, between gunmen yet to be identified and some militia from the Gedo region on their way to Baido to reinforce the puppet "defence minister", taking casualties.

Meanwhile on a visit to Yemen Sheikh Shariif was quoted as saying that - "We are ready to speak to the Ethiopians if they leave Somalia. Otherwise their fate will be defeat and we will fight them until we evict them from Somalia."

Further fighting is expected as the seven day ultimatum given by the Islamic courts is yet to be heeded by the occupation forces.
