Mortars greet AU forces

At least 8 Mortar rounds have been lobbed into the airport this afternoon as African union troops arrived and held a ceremony there. Nearly 100 gunmen attacked different parts of the city hitting the Ethiopians hard before they leave town.

 

The days events began around 1pm this afternoon when 2 planes loaded with Ugandan peacekeepers arrived in the city, as the troops held a welcoming ceremony at least 2 round of the mortar lobbed by the gunmen landed on the grounds near them, sending all the guests and the troops diving for shelter.

 

In what appeared to be a well planned attacks about 100 mojaheds attacked 2 military camps in the city hosting the Ethiopian and puppet troops inflicting massive casualties on the enemy troops at least 3 of the attackers died in the attacks, enemy troops responded with heavy artillery fire sending most of the civilians to take shelter

 

At least 20 people including top level police officers have been killed in the last ten days of violence and lawlessness in the city.

 

In another tribal development the Hawiya clan which dominates most of the south of Somalia including Mogadishu condemned the government for its uneven handling of the peace process and bringing enemy troops to the country they demanded that they negotiate with political forces and the Islamic courts.

- De Jabuti president Ismail Gelle said that the horn of Africa is not safer with the defeat of the Islamic courts, and said there is no peace possible in Somalia unless agreement is made with the Islamic courts.

 

Sheikh Faud former head of the education department for the islamic courts send a recorded message, urging the believers to fight on and defended his position on why he went to hajj when the war was about to break, he tried to defend many heads of the Islamic court's security department for not being in the country and accused many munafiq soldiers for their defeat and sudden withdrawals from the towns.
