Dozens of Mujahideen stormed an Iraqi jail in the northern city of Mosul on Tuesday and freed up to 140 prisoners in one of the biggest prison breaks since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, police said.
As many as 300 Mujahideen led by Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the "Islamic State of Iraq", attacked Mosul's northwestern Badoush prison just after sunset in the ethnically mixed city and overwhelmed police, who were forced to call the U.S. military for backup, officials said. Hisham al-Hamdani, a member of the Mosul provincial government, said Abu Omar al-Baghdadi took part in the attack himself. Most of the prisoners were
believed to be resistance fighters, police said. It was unclear if there were any clashes between militants and police during the incident. Saddam Hussein's nephew, Ayham Sabawi, escaped the same prison in December after he was accused of financing the Sunni resistance against U.S. forces and the Shiite-led government.

Who are Islamic State Iraq?

The Islamic State of Iraq was established to protect the Sunni Iraqi people and defend Islam, by the Pact of the Scented People. It claims a presence in the governorates of Baghdad, Anbar, Diyala, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, Ninawa, and parts of Babel and Wasit, and is headed by the Emir of the Believers, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi.

The Mujahideen Shura Council merged into ISlamic State Iraq in according to the Sunna. before Mujahideen Shura Council consisded of -

 Al-Qaeda Organization in the land of the Two Rivers.
 Jaish Al-Taifah Al-Mansourah.
 Ansar Al-Tawhid Units.
 Al-Ghurab'a Units.
 Al-Jihad Al-Islami Units.
 Al-Ahwa'al Brigades
