The Somali transitional government arrested and tortured journalist among them is Abdirahman Aladalla , a reporter working for Shabelle Media Network, was taken away by government troops to Elarfid, 2km away from where he was seized.
Aladalla said that he was tortured and beaten before the Somali troops transferred him to Ethiopian forces based in Elarfid. "Before I was handed over to Ethiopian troops there, the commander of the Somali troops, who was in his early 20s,tortured me beating me with a piece of stone," he said.
He was after they asked him several questions, including if he was member of Islamists and al-Qaeda.
Today soldiers based at Mogadishu international airport arrested reporter, Mohammed Bashir and the driver Osma Qoryoeley with Shabelle Media Network while the Mr. Bashir was at the airport to cover live reports about a press conference which was due to be held by Somali premier Ali Mohammed Gedi inside the airport. their whereabouts are unknown "All senior government officials at the airport told me they were not aware that reporters were arrested by government soldiers." Later during the day 2 more journalist with Shabelle Media Notwork were arrest simply because they published pictures of somali and Ethiopian dead soldier bodies being dragged in the streets of Mogadishu after a heavy fight that started 06:30 (Mogadishu time) between the "FTG" soldiers backed by Ethiopian and heavily armed group who oppose the Somali transitional government and Ethiopian photos available at http://www.shabelle.net/news/ne2599.htm#1 .
