Unforgettable defeat

Ethiopian troops suffered a heavy defeat Thursday as battle continues through out Mogadishu for the second day running.

 

The battles began on Thursday at 6.30am Mogadishu time when 3500 Ethiopian forces with tanks and helicopters attacked and occupied 6 districts of the city, the Somalis expecting the heavy assault for days since the government and Ethiopian forces were defeated last week, laid ambushes and hid in most of the ruined city, as the occupiers settled in, gunmen started to fire from all directions with all kind of weapons killing as many as 20 Ethiopian forces.

 

The Hawiye clan spokesmen said in the morning during the battles that the "Ethiopians had broken the truce and cheated us and inshallah they will be defeated"

 

Battles raged during the whole day light as Somali fighters tried to dislodge the Ethiopians from their new posts, and as night broke all of the occupiers retreated in the their former positions in the presidency and the national airport where they resumed a heavy shelling on the city through out the night

 

The last of the Ethiopian combat troops fled into the Mogadishu stadium were they took cover the whole night and as Friday morning came, battles resumed as many fighters target the stadium and the presidency where the shelling is still continuing forces up to 10,000 civilians to escape the city.

 

Many witness confirm that at least 4 tanks and 2 carriers were burned down during the battles on Thursday and 1 helicopter was destroyed, when it fired missiles into the Madina district  prompting the angry defenders to start firing several missiles on it

 

Another helicopter was destroyed on Friday in front of media cameras "picture from Reuters" as it smashed into the international airport.

 

Many youngsters wearing the former Islamic courts army clothes were seen roaming in the city driving 4x4 dragging the bodies of Ethiopia's "special forces"
