Publication time: 1 April 2007, 15:24

Heavy fighting still continuing for the 3rd day non-stop since Thursday morning as Ethiopian and Somali fighters battle each other around the national stadium in central Mogadishu, up to 500 Ethiopian fighters fled into the massive stadium on Thursday night and have been trapped ever since, as they come under massive fire from the fighters surrounding the area,

Further 700 more Ethiopian troops managed to make it to the area to help out the trapped soldiers but also came under heavy fire, Somali fighters managed to destroy the truck that was carrying the ammunition for the whole army, forcing the "relief" army to also seek refuge in the stadium.

Up to 300 hundred people are being reported killed but could not be confirmed as heavy shelling is almost leveling the entire districts in Mogadishu.

The presidential palace has also been shelled by the Somali fighters targeting the Ethiopians who are shelling the town, the palace is situated in a hilly road over looking most of the city making a strategic place for the occupiers.
