Fighting starts anew in Somalia

Publication time: 12 April 2007, 10:44

At least two people have been killed and three others were wounded in a renewed fighting that erupted in north of the Somalia capital between the invading ethiopian troops and Mujahideen fighters overnight.

The fighting began around 8:00 pm local time last night in the area between Ramadan and Kaah hotels where the rival sides are exchanging heavy artillery weapons.

Several artillery rounds have been fired by the occupying ethiopian forces in the presidential palace in Mogadishu. The fighting is reported to have intensified this morning and spread into villages near the area.

The sounds of heavy weaponry could be heard through the city.

One of the killed persons in the fighting was a man guarding a house in Towfiq neighborhood after a artillery fire slammed the house.

The latest outbreak of fighting is in breach of the fragile ceasefire between both the sides.
