Deputy Mayor dies as more fighting continues

More fighting is continuing in Mogadishu as the death of the city's deputy mayor has been reported from Nairobi, Kenya.

 

KC reported early in march this year that Deputy mayor Ibrahim Shaweey has been sevearly injured by an assassination attempt and have been flown to Kenya to receive some emergency treatment, he died last night from his injuries.

 

A Sporadic gun battle continues in Mogadishu on Friday, Hundreds of families were fleeing the volatile city as Ethiopian troops launched several missiles from the Mogadishu presidential compound while the insurgents were returning mortar shells targeting Ethiopian military bases in north of the capital where both forces are facing off

 

The UN said that humanitarian catastrophe is looming in Somalia unless heavy fighting subsides and access for relief aid is opened up, especially around Mogadishu.
