Putin worse than Stalin

Publication time: 6 May 2007, 14:14

« Putin wishes to take control of the Russian scientists » - an article under such heading was published in British newspaper Sunday Telegraph. In it is mentioned about intention of the Russian management to reform the Russian academy of sciences.

In this connection a comment to the edition was given by the academician, Nobel prize winning physicist Vitaly Ginsburg. He said Putin's russia is worse than USSR of Stalin.

Certainly, during Stalin times the Academy was under the control of Central Committee of Communist party. But then you could come with an idea and work. So we sent the first satellite to space. But now authorities consider that science should only make profit, and it is absurdity », declares Ginsburg.

« It is doubtless, because of Putin ... », - the scientist adds.
