According to a source in the headquarters of the Caucasian Front of the Armed Forces of the Caucasus Emirate, on the night of 5 Muharram 1429 (12 January 2008), a special group of the Mujahideen carried out a special operation aimed at liquidating Patrushev, the ringleader of the Lubyanka-based FSB gang.
The sources reported that according to information of the counter-intelligence of the Mujahideen, Patrushev was expected to secretly use one of the routes in Nalchik during the so called anti-terrorist training which was carried out during the recent days by forces of the "FSB RF" gang.
Around 23:00 5 Muharram 1429 an SOG (special operations group) unit of the Kabarda-Balkar sector of the Caucasian Front laid in ambush on the possible route of Patrushev's movement.
The car which, according to counter-intelligence information, carried Patrushev, was attacked from two locations.
After the car's passengers were eliminated, it turned out that instead of Patrushev the car carried another particularly dangerous ringleader of the "UBOP MVD KBR" (UBOP, Upravleniye borby s organizovannoy prestupnostyu - Interior Ministry's organized crime department, which in fact is the department fighting against Mujahideen) gang, Colonel Anatoliy Kyarov. Commander of the "UBOP special purpose squad" was killed along with him. The car's driver ran away.
According to sources in Nalchik, Anatoliy Kyarov was one of the most acive enemies of the Emirate of Caucasus, he had on his hands blood of many Muslims who were tortured to death.
