Chechen singer now sings other songs

Publication time: 4 June 2008, 10:28

On photo: Timur Mutsurayev (one of the most recent pictures of the Chechen singer).

About 3 to 4 weeks ago a word got out that Chechen bard Timur Mutsurayev, who sings Chechen patriotic songs in Russian language, traveled to Chechnya to meet the ringleader of the Chechen murtadin (apostates, pro-Russian collaborators) Kadyrov. Despite of numerous rumors, Kadyrov and Mutsurayev have been concealing this fact any way they could.

Moreover, Kadyrov's media even made a public refutation and stated that Mutsurayev allegedly did not come to Chechnya and never met with Kadyrov.

Nonetheless, an audio (in Chechen language) was published on the internet the other day, where Mutsurayev does not only confirm that he did go to Chechnya and met with Kadyrov, but also announced that from now on he is conducting a "peacekeeping mission on reconciliation of the sides at war".

In his rather confusing speech Mutsurayev made transparent hints that he is authorized by Kadyrov to conduct negotiations on reconciliation. He mentions Ahmed Zakayev and strongly presses on the "rescue of the Chechen people" and the need of unity, while quoting the Hadith and the Koran both suitably and unsuitably, then quoting the examples of China and Mongolia (?), and then he ends with assurance that "everything is going to be all right".

Knowledgeable sources reported that Mutsurayev's trip to Chechnya was not spontaneous. Earlier Kadyrov was contacting Mutsurayev over the phone and telling him to come over, while calling on their clan solidarity (both Mutsurayev and Kadyrov are from the Benoi Clan [Teip]). He promised him protection, forgiveness and support.

The sources report that upon his arrival to Chechnya, Mutsurayev stopped at the checkpoint before the entrance into the village of Hosi-Yurt. He told the guards that he is the famous singer Mutsurayev and asked to contact Kadyrov and report about his arrival. Turned out that Kadyrov was in Moscow at that time. Once Kadyrov found out that Mutsurayev was at the checkpoint, he ordered him brought to his residence and shown hospitality until Kadyrov's return.

Upon his return from Moscow, Kadyrov let the singer accompany him and attend sessions and meetings including the ones at the bases where Kadyrov's Murtads are stationed. The singer was most likely quite impressed by all of it.

Before his trip to Chechnya, Mutsurayev went to Turkey where he met with some of the former fighters of CRI Armed Forces from Commander Gelayev's unit, who are now living abroad. He told them that he wants to go home in order to "contribute to reconciliation of the Chechen people". He said that he consulted with Zakayev and received his approval.

After visiting Hosi-Yurt, Chechnya, Mutsurayev went to capital of Azerbaijan Baku, where on Kadyrov's request he had a meeting with some of the Chechen refugees. During that meeting he was calling Zakayev in London to coordinate the positions. Zakayev promised to earmark funds for the "peacekeeping mission", whose purpose is alliance with Kadyrov.

Several days ago, after Mutsurayev returned from Chechnya, Zakayev announced that he would like to become a mediator between the Mujahideen (Caucasus Armed Forces) and Kadyrov's pro-Russian collaborators (Murtads/apostates).

Echo of Moscow reported that Zakayev said, "We are preparing a number of serious documents aimed at prevention of clashes between Chechen fighters and Chechen police".

After Mutsurayev made his public confession that he was going over to Kadyrov's camp, it became clear who is the one preparing such ‘documents'.

Meanwhile the first reaction came from the Command of the Caucasus Armed Forces (Mujahideen). Deputy Commander of the Shali Sector of Eastern Front of Armed Forces of the Caucasus Emirate, Commander (Amir) Muslim, made a statement over the telephone, ‘Treason can be disguised under any clothing and justified with any purposes, yet it does not stop being a treason from that".

For some period of time Timur (Timirbulat) Mutsurayev was serving in the unit under the command of Khamzat Gelayev (Shaheed/Martyr, Insha Allah). After the Chechen Armed Forces (Mujahideen) exited CRI capital Jokhar in the winter of 2000, the unit relocated to Pankisi. As part of Commander Gelayev's unit, Mutsurayev participated in one of the crossings into Chechnya, and then he moved out again. The singer has been living abroad ever since.
