Caucasus Emirate Security agent interviews Zakhar Abukhanov

Publication time: 17 July 2008, 18:57

Kavkaz Center's source reported that special agent of The Caucasus Emirate Intelligence Service (Mukhabarat) has met with Zakhar Abukhanov the other day in Brussels, Belgium.

Zakhar Abukhanov, former close friend of Ahmed Zakayev (former Foreign Minister of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, who lives in London, and who founded the unauthorized Chechen government "in exile"), had accused Zakayev and his financial sponsor [Russian exiled tycoon] Boris Berezovsky of planning to mastermind an anti-Chechen provocation in Europe.

In his scandalous interview Abukhanov accused his ex-friend of treason, attempts to mastermind terrorist acts on the European soil and assassinate Berezovsky's rivals, as well as of planning to liquidate Berezovsky himself.

Zakhar Abukhanov claims that Zakayev had addressed to him with the proposal to kill Boris Berezovsky, who has a stringent control over all Zakayev's actions, and who is financially supporting the former Chechen foreign minister, his family and his circle of members of the so-called "London Criminal Group".

Zakhar Abukhanov has also related the real underlying motive of the story with the "nuclear briefcase", which Boris Berezovsky used to talk about. There was a time when Berezovsky told Western media that he personally notified the ringleader of the Russian FSB (Federal Security Service, former KGB) Patrushev that "Chechens are preparing a nuclear terrorist act". (According to the official version of both Moscow and London, the Kremlin regime and the KGB are at odds with Boris Berezovsky).

KC's source reported that Zakhar Abukhanov gave a detailed testimony to the investigator from the Caucasus Emirate concerning the accusation against Ahmed Zakayev. The entire testimony was recorded on audiotape.

From the report by KC's source it is not clear whether Zakhar Abukhanov provided any documentary evidence to back up the accusation against Zakayev. Earlier on, Abukhanov stated that he was willing to produce the mentioned documentation to the London Court, whose audience he has been seeking.

KC's source also reported that Zakhar Abukhanov's testimony has been recorded and filed. From the report it is unclear whether Abukhanov's testimony will be filed with the Zakayev case as part of the investigation of democratic anti-government mutiny and treason, or will be used to launch a new prosecution case.

KC's source reported that Plenipotentiary Representative of the Caucasus Emirate in Europe, Buhari Barayev, took part in the meeting as well. Mr. Barayev was present when Zakhar Abukhanov was giving the official testimony and being interviewed.
