Jamaat Shariat web-site has posted a statement confirming recent casualties of Mujahideen. Russian forces killed five and detained four other people (three men and a woman) in three separate, but apparently linked raids on February 21, 2009, in Makhachkala. Mujahideen belonging to several special operational groups, who entered the city in order to carry out a major operation, fought stubborn battles against outnumbering forces of disbelievers in Shamilkala (formerly Makhachkala) for two days and nights. By Allah's mercy, our five brothers were martyred (insha'Allah). According to eyewitness reports, no less than ten disbelievers from special forces were eliminated and wounded. Dagestani Mujahideen vowed to continue killing disbelievers and apostates "till the black flag with "La ilaha illa Allah" will be raised over the state council [building]". The statement contains a particular threat against those apostates who have been fabricating criminal cases against Muslim women: We know each one of you, we know your disgraceful, unmanly deeds. You are on top of our lists [for elimination]. You will not sleep peacefully until there is at least one Mujahid in the land of Dagestan.
The statement says that young recruits are going to be deployed this year: Praise be to Allah, the youth joins Jihad. New groups of Mujahideen are training in mountains and woods, they are studying military science and fundamentals of Islam. Reserves of Muslim youth, who have been waiting for their turn to go out in Allah's path, will be deployed with the advent of spring. The statement also calls on Muslims to prepare themselves for Jihad: We call on brothers who want to join the caravan of Jihad, to be ready for large-scale offensive operations, and take up arms at necessary moment on an order from Emir. Study military science, learn to shoot, train your body and mind, read Qur'an more and strive for being fearful of Allah.
