Two weeks ago, the FSB of Russia accused Georgia of the transfer of terrorists into Chechnya. The leader of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov said that supposedly the found audio reports from the Mujahideen suggest "that they, together with envoys from al-Qaida, are in contact with the secret services of Georgia, with the participation of which a training and movement of terrorists into Chechnya is organized."
FSB insists that allegedly Georgia "is constantly attempting to deliver weapons, explosives and funding to the militants to carry out attacks at the sites of increased risk in Dagestan, primarily on oil and gas pipelines".
Official of Tbilisi called the statement of the FSB an "absurd". As stated by the deputies of the Georgian Parliament, the purpose of such scandalous statements by Russian authorities is an attempt to create "a sharp background," at the talks in Moscow of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, where the relations between Russia and Georgia will be discussed.
As stated by the Georgian deputies, Russia is trying to invent new stories about Georgia, to create a negative reaction of America and Europe towards Georgia. Parliamentarians called such statements of the Russian authorities "ridiculous".
