As reported by Russian invaders media outlets on Sunday, the Mujahideen of Idel Ural captured a strategic district 29 in the Bashkerian town of Oktyabrskiy Friday morning. On Saturday, the Russians moved tanks, 50 APCs and military helicopters against the Mujahideen.
The battles in the town lasted 2 days and were still going at least on Sunday morning, according to some reports.
According to local residents of the Muslim town, the number of the Mujahideen which took part in the raid was about 16 fighters. The Russians said that they moved more than 500 soldiers of the KGB troops alone to fight the Mujahideen. A large number of Russian troops from police paramilitary units also took part in 2-day battles.
Local residents reported that at least 9 Russian soldiers from the KGB troops had been killed and 22 others injured in the battles with the Mujahideen.
Russian terrorists media outlets reported Sunday afternoon that the Mujahideen of Idel Ural were headed by Emir of Bashkiria Bashir Pliyev, an Ingush, who took part in the capture of Ingush cities of Nazran and Karabulak on June 22, 2004, headed by Shamil Basayev.
The Russians terrorists said that they arrested 4 Bashkir youths whom they suspect of taking part in the capture of Oktyabrskiy on Friday and Saturday. Independent analysts assume that the youths have nothing to do with the Mujahideen.
The Russians recognized that after 2-day battles, the Mujahideen, including the Commander Bashir Pliyev, safely left the town and returned to their base.
The targets that the Mujahideen attacked in the town were not reported by the Russians. Sunday afternoon, the KGB said the raid on Oktyabrsiy had been carried out by "international terrorists" consisting of foreign citizen. On Saturday, the KGB reported the raid was conducted by local "criminals" and gave 4 names of them. All of them are Russian citizens.
Idel Ural is a Moslem country between river Volga and the Ural mountains and includes Russian provinces of Tatarstan and Bashkiria.
In 1959, the Russian-occupied country was officially recognized by the US Congress in a Resolution on Oppressed Nations in Russia.
