Russia builds up its pirate naval forces against NATO in Syria

Publication time: 28 November 2011, 12:22
According to Russian media, a group of Russian warships, headed by its Northern Fleet heavy aircraft carrying cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov", will be stationed in a Syrian port. The Russians claims that "the main task of the Russian fleet will be to guard the Syrian coast and to prevent a military conflict with Western countries".

Late last week, crews of the only aircraft carrying cruiser in the Russian Navy "Admiral Kuznetsov" and a large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Chabanenko" completed preparations for Putin's campaign against the NATO in Syria, following the exercise program at the combat training sites in the Barents Sea.

The pirate ships of Russian Northern Fleet will start their campaign against the NATO already in early December. The aircraft carrier group will round the European continent in the west and enter the Mediterranean through the Strait of Gibraltar. After passing through Bosporus and the Dardanelles, a Black Sea patrol ship Ladnyy will join the group. "Admiral Kuznetsov" will be armed with eight naval Su-33 fighters, several new MiG-29K fighters and two anti-submarine helicopters Ka-27.

The aircraft carrier will be also armed with 12 launchers for anti-ship missiles "Granit", a six-barreled anti-aircraft missile system "Dagger", eight anti-aircraft installations "Dirk", six six-barreled 30-mm gun mounts AK-630M and two rocket launchers RBU-12000 "Boa".

The heavy aircraft carrying cruiser of project 1143.5, "Admiral Kuznetsov", is unique in the Russian Navy in its class. It is designed to destroy large surface targets and protect marine compounds from potential enemy attacks.

Meanwhile, the situation escalates around Syria. America has moved from the Persian Gulf to the shores of Syria its newest multi-purpose attack nuclear-powered aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush, two guided missile cruisers and two missile destroyers.
