Russia fears Syria's chemical weapons may fall into hands of CE Mujahideen

Publication time: 22 July 2012, 17:52

Examiner reports on the situation in Syria in an article entitled Endgame in Syria. It says in particular:

"Basher Assad is reported to have relocated to Latakia in the heart of Syrian Alawite territory near the Russian naval base at Tartus. One report indicated that his wife Asma Assad has already gone to Russia.

The Russian ambassador to France was quoted to say that Assad had agreed to step down and leave Syria which was quickly denied by the Syrian government.

There were also conflicting reports Assad had been wounded in the security building bombing before Assad was televised officially appointing the new Syrian defense minister.

Internationally Assad's collapse seems to be anticipated with the CIA racing to to locate Syrian WMD and "Israel" hinting it may act to secure or destroy Syrian missiles and WMD if and when it appears either are on the move from Syria to Hezbollah control in Lebanon.

"Israel" is not likely to allow this in any case, but especially not after the suicide attack in Bulgaria which looks to have been Hezbollah directed at the moment.

Several hundred Russian marines in Tartus could be tasked with racing across Syria to secure the WMD if it appears that it may fall into the wrong hands.

Russia is likely concerned that those 'wrong hands' could be elements sympathetic to Chechen separatists.

Russia acting independently to secure Syrian WMD is dubious considering Assad loyalists may put up a fight and the opposition would likely attack Russian forces in any case.

If Russia and other nations decide to act to secure Syrian WMD it could surprisingly be a coordinated joint effort though if the WMD were moved to Lebanon and Hezbollah control it is questionable Russia would participate in retrieving it".
