The German government is disappointed with tightening up of Putin's course in domestic and foreign policy and is now talking about with regard to Russian-German relations not about partnership, but only about a "desired partnership".
The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs Coordinator on Russia Andreas Schockenhoff said on Thursday that "Kremlin saw criticism as a threat, not as a chance for the development of modern Russia with active civil society".
Earlier, the German government regarded its relations with Russia as a "strategic partnership", but Russia's support for murderous Assad's regime and increased repressions against the Russian opposition led to growing irritation in Germany, notes the German press.
