Russia remains a country with limited freedom of the Internet, according to an annual report issued by the US-based NGO of the Freedom House.
In particular, the report criticizes blocking (for example, Kavkaz Center blocking by the KGB with the help of Russian providers and by DDoS attacks) and filtering information, as well as adopting the KGB "laws" that restrict the content undesirable for the regime, and also pressure on users and popular bloggers.
