The Free Syrian Army (FSA) declared an all-out assault in Aleppo on Thursday. The FSA is the country's main freedom fighters' group made up of defected soldiers and civilians who have taken up arms to topple the Assad's regime. Freedom fighters and Assad's gangs are engaged in all-out war in Aleppo, the country's largest city and commercial hub.
The fighting is unprecedented and has not stopped since Thursday. The clashes used to be limited to one or two blocks of a district, but now the fighting is on several fronts.
Some of the heaviest battles were taking place in a predominantly Kurdish neighborhood. The major freedom fighters' group in the city, the Tawhid Brigade, entered the Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood to fight Asasd's ethnic Kurd gangs.
Meanwhile, in Damascus Assad's gangs launched assaults on several liberated on Friday. Alawite gangs stormed the neighborhoods of Barzeh, Jubar and Qaboon in Damascus, cutting off streets and breaking into and raiding houses. They arrested a large number of peaceful residents. A large number of Alawite thugs and Russian tanks were deployed throughout Barzeh district, the sound of gunfire can be heard, and families in the neighborhood are in panic.
