SYRIA. Fighting for Aleppo central prison continues

Publication time: 8 February 2014, 19:49
The Command of Jabhat al-Nusrah reports that the battle for the central prison in Aleppo continued. Mujahideen are fighting inside the prison and control about 80% of its territory, and two blocks out of three.

Assadites stay entrenched in the third block of the prison complex and keep on holding it. Russian-made Alawite planes bombed the Mujahideen positions, trying to force them out to retreat.

Earlier, during the storming of the prison, Mujahideen from Jabhat al-Nusrah and Ahrar al-Sham freed hundreds of inmates. In total, 4,000 to 6,000 people are held in this prison (video shows the beginning of the attack and a pre-fighting appeal by Sheikh al-Mohaysani)

During 7 days, air forces of Assad regime dropped over 126 barrels of explosives on residential areas of Aleppo. Hundreds of peaceful Muslims were killed and wounded.

At the same time, Mujahideen of Fajr al-Islam and Jabhat al-Nusrah announced the liberation of the settlement Jabal al-Arsad. Jabhat al-Nusrah also reported successful military operations that had ousted Shiite troops and groups of Nuserites from 18 villages in the province of Hasaka. At present, the fighting is taking place in the town of Haram Shaddad.

Simultaneously, Mujahideen from Ahrar al-Sham are fighting Assad's gangs in an ancient district of Aleppo, Sheikh Said (see this video).

Fierce fighting with Assad's forces also unfolded for the settlement of Aziz. Mujahideen from Fajr al-Islam had ten of their fighters martyred (Insha'Allah) and another 70 injured. At the same time, 30 thugs from Assad troops were killed and a large number of weapons, mostly small, was seized.

Meanwhile, the situation inside the camp of Mujahideen is still unstable, which adversely affects the effectiveness of military action against the Assad regime.

Thus, the situation in the area of Deir al-Zor became extremely tense. The command of Jabhat al-Nusrah accused the ISIL of an attack on its base while Mujahideen went to help the besieged brothers in Homs. A representative of Jabhat al-Nusrah, Dr. Sami al Aridd (Abu Mahmoud al-Shami), reported that the ISIL command waived the suggestion to get all this investigated by a Sharia Court.

Jabhat al-Nusrah issued an official statement on the matter.

It is to be recalled that, in another case, a ceasefire agreement was signed between the ISIL and Sukur Sham. Emir of Sham Sukur is also the commander of Jabhat al-Islamiya (Islamic Front), which the ISIL had been fighting lately. Sources in Syria reported that Sukur Sham extended the truce with the ISIL.

At the same time, clashes between Jabhat al-Nusrah and the ISIL are ongoing near the village of Al-Rai and in Menbij city, north of Aleppo.
